A Taste for the Finer Things: The Girl Behind the Blog

Enter the world of a girl who dreams daily of wearing couture dresses, can run in super high heels, loves the thrill of getting new magazines; a girl who is trying to figure out what direction to take in her career and possesses a strong work ethic which pushes her to challenge herself daily. The finer things in life are not just about expensive trinkets, gorgeous ball gowns, or high status events. Often, they are the things we often overlook in daily life, those things we take for granted; beautiful, natural, and little things that end up making all the difference when it comes down to it. This blog is dedicated to exploring the issues surrounding the 'finer' things in life, from the eyes of a conservative girl in an ever changing world.

The Age (And Value) of True Luxury

Some of the most ancient trinkets aren't worth a single dime, while others are worth millions and even billions of dollars.

Some of the newest items on the fashion lines sell for hundreds and thousands of dollars, while others go on clearance the minute they hit the shelves at Bloomingdales.

Luxury can be defined numerous ways and the age of the luxury items definitely affects its overall status, its value.

Luxury could be a day at the Ritz, or a simple outing at the local mom and pop restaurant.
Luxury could be a Tiffany&Co. ring, or a family heirloom.

Luxury doesn't necessarily mean that you have to spend all your money-it means spending your money on what you really want.

I admire vintage shoppers. Those that know the hot spots to find age old luxury at fine prices, where as most of the vintage items I find seem to be junk. How do you know if something vintage, is really worth something? I guess not only is beauty in the eye of the beholder, but so is luxury.

As they say 'one man's trash, is another's treasure'.

As our country continues to experience an economic lag, people are becoming more and more attracted to sorting through old antique shops, a place where they can find something unique, without being caught off guard by overpriced department stores. But, vintage isn't always affordable, vintage Chanel, Prada, and Hermes can run for thousands and thousands of dollars.

So, what makes an item luxurious? What makes an item worth the splurge, even though it may have been used before? You tell me! :)

The price of an item has nothing to do with luxury. To possess something that you heart desires is true luxury. It could be worth a million dollar or free. It doesn't matter what brand it is, where it was bought from or when it was bought. It even doesn't have to be tangible. TRUE luxury is joy even if you're dirt poor. That is if you found the Joy. Joy is the most finest thing in life. Don't ya agree?
